Can I sell eggs?

Yes, if the flock, sales route, eggs and information comply.

Eggs can be sold through an honesty box, but the route is regulated. Register the flock and confirm whether the eggs must be marked, graded and packed through an approved centre or whether a narrow direct-sale exemption applies.

In Northern Ireland, current DAERA guidance says ungraded eggs may be sold through an honesty box only when it is situated on the farm where the eggs were produced.

Can I sell cakes?

Yes, but home baking is still a registered food business.

Register before trading, use a suitable kitchen and display, manage food safety and allergens, label the product for the sales format and validate the storage and shelf life. Chilled or higher-risk products need more control than simple ambient baked goods.

Can I sell crafts?

Yes, provided each product is safe and legally supplied.

Handmade products must meet general product-safety and consumer-rights rules. Toys, cosmetics, candles, electrical goods, children’s products and food-contact items can have additional requirements.

Do I need insurance?

Not every cover is legally compulsory, but an honesty box creates real risks.

Tell the property or farm insurer about the business and public access. Ask a broker about public liability, product liability, stock, money, theft, weather and equipment. If you employ people, compulsory employers’ liability rules may apply, particularly in Northern Ireland.

Can someone else submit my honesty box?

Yes—YourHonestyBox is designed to accept useful community submissions.

A customer, friend, tourism business or community member can submit a location, provided the information is accurate and the photos can lawfully be used. The listing does not transfer ownership of the business or make the submitter the operator.

• Use the correct public name and entrance pin.
• Do not submit private contact details without permission.
• The operator can request a correction or removal.

Is listing free?

Yes, the current YourHonestyBox community listing is free.

There is no listing fee for adding an honesty box to the current discovery map. The producer remains responsible for products, payments, customer service and legal compliance.

How do I edit my listing?

Use the current correction route shown on the listing or contact YourHonestyBox.

Send the listing link and the exact change needed—for example the pin, hours, payment method, product description or photo. Provide enough information to verify the correction without sending unnecessary personal data.

How do I remove my listing?

Use the removal option on the listing or contact YourHonestyBox with the listing link.

State whether the box has closed permanently, is seasonal, has moved or should not have been listed. A temporary seasonal closure may be better handled as an update; a permanent closure should be removed so customers are not sent to the site.
