Listing photos, seasonal updates and a repeatable shot plan

Last reviewed:

Listing photos are navigation and trust tools first, decoration second. A customer should recognise the entrance, the box and the product when they arrive.

Taking good listing photos

Use a five-shot sequence that answers the customer’s journey.

  1. Approach shot: show the safe entrance from the customer’s direction of travel.
  2. Wide shot: show parking, path and the honesty box together.
  3. Front-on shot: show the whole display and signage.
  4. Product shot: show representative products, pack sizes and prices.
  5. Detail shot: show payment instructions or a distinctive local feature without exposing sensitive data.
  • Clean the lens and photograph in soft daylight.
  • Hold the phone level; use the normal lens rather than extreme wide angle.
  • Remove bins, tools, clutter and expired signs.
  • Take landscape images for maps/listings and a few portrait versions for stories.
  • Check every image at full size for personal data and misleading details.

Seasonal updates

Replace the lead images when the customer experience changes.

Trigger Update
New season opens Lead image, product range, hours and access conditions.
Major crop/product change Product close-up and price-board image.
Structure or entrance changes Approach, parking and front-on shots.
Weather disruption Temporary closure/status—use text first, photo only if useful.
Season ends Mark closed/paused and remove misleading stock photos.

Photo ideas

Build a small library that shows product, process, place and people safely.

  • Freshly stocked shelf with readable prices.
  • Harvest basket or baking tray before packing.
  • Hands arranging flowers or packing produce, with clean practice visible.
  • Weatherproofing detail after an upgrade.
  • A product bundle at a real price point.
  • Seasonal before-and-after display.
  • Map-style approach sequence from the final safe turn-in—not while driving.
  • Maker portrait outside the production area, with consent.
